The aim of this work was to study the oral motor skills in children with Down{u2019}s syndrome and detect their possible correlate with the cognitive disabilities. The study was conducted on one hundred Egyptian children, Arabic is their native language with age range between three and five years. The children were divided into two groups; fifty children were previously diagnosed with Down{u2019}s syndrome, Stanford Binet scores showing below average to mild intellectual disability and fifty children with intellectual disability, Stanford Binet scores showing below average to mild intellectual disability. An assessment was designed to detect the oral motor skills defects of each group. The results obtained from this study revealed that children with Down{u2019}s syndrome presented with oral motor skills defects which correlate with age, intellectual quotient, praxia, and feeding mechanism. Oral motor skill defects in Down{u2019}s syndrome are not simply due to cognitive delay
