Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Tropical Medicine Summary: In this study, the concept of rapid viral response (RVR) and very early viral response (VEVR) has been validated in predicting SVR in chronic HCV patients treated with pegylated interferon plus ribavirin specially regarding the PPV and the NPV, as there is limited information available regarding treating hepatitis C genotype 4.This prospective cohort study was performed on 125 out-patients with chronic HCV infection who attended to the N.H.T.M.R.I & were candidates for treatment with pegylated interferon alpha & ribavirin. Out of the 125 patients, 20 patients were withdrawn due to non-response at week
