  • Issued also as CD
Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Architectural Engineering Summary: The research presented a comprehensive analysis for the effect of solar screens parameters on daylight and thermal performance for office building in Egypt. It also conducted an analytical comparison between Genetic Algorithms and parametric simulation approaches testing their potentials and limitations in balancing daylight and thermal performance within the maximum possible energy savings by optimizing solar screens. Finally, two approaches were proposed to overcome the current limitations and could help architects to efficiently optimize any solar screen design regarding specific performance target
