Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Zoology Summary: The present study investigated some helminth parasites infecting economically important species inhabiting lake manzala, dakahlia governorate in Egypt. Fish samples collected during the period of February 2013 - May 2015 from boat landing sites and fishermen the lake. The collected fish species were Priacanthus hamrur, Sparus aurata, gariepinus, mullus surmuletus, and Siganus revulatus. Prevalence and seasonal variations parasitic infections among the examined fish species were studied. Three species of parasites were recorded; these were lecithochirium priacanthi from P. hamrur, orientocreadium batrachoides from C. gariepinus, and opecoeloides furcatus from M. surmuletus. Two species cestode parasites were recovered during study; these were callitetrarhynchus sp. nov. Sparus aurata, and Polyonchobothrium clariae from C. gariepinus. Two species of nematode parasites isolated; these were Procamallanus laevionchus, and camallanus polypteri gariepinus. Moreover, one species of acanthocephalan parasites was recorded; this Neoechinorhynchus macrospinosus from S. revulatus. The present investigation of infections was carried out by means of morphologic and morphometric characterizations using light and scanning electron microscopy
