Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Endodontics Summary: The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the cleaning efficacy of 5.25% NaOCl and MTAD final flushing agents, and the effect of each solution on the apical leakage of teeth filled with lateral condensation technique and soft core endodontic obturator. The canals of fifty six single rooted teeth were prepared by protaper rotary nickel titanium files and divided according to the final flushing agent into two equal groups of 25 samples: Group 1 was flushed with 5 ml of 5.25% NaOCl while group 2 was flushed with 5 ml of MTAD, five samples from each group were evaluated for cleanliness by stereomicroscope to assess debris in the canals, three samples were selected and evaluated for smear layer using scanning electron microscope (SEM), ten samples from each group were obturated by lateral compaction technique and 10 samples were obturated by soft core endodontic obturators and evaluated the apical leakage using dye penetration test using digital microscope
