Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Pedodontics Summary: Dental caries is the most common chronic disease in childhood. For many years caries was thought to consist of a one-way progressive demineralization of the dental structures followed by degradation of dentin, leading to cavity formation. In fact, dental hard tissues are constantly undergoing cycles of demineralization and remineralization. Minimal intervention dentistry for managing dental caries is all about how to prevent the development of dental caries, stop progression of the carious process and remineralize the initial non-cavitated white spots. The current study was conducted to compare the efficacy of sugar substitutes and nano-HA containing dentifrices with containing dentifrice regarding their ability to protect the enamel against acid attack and to remineralize early carious lesions. Three dentifrices were used in this study: Group 1: sugar substitutes containing dentifrice Group 2: nano-HA containing dentifrice. Group 3: NaF containing dentifrice. Each group was further divided into two sub-groups
