Periodic beams have proven to possess vibration attenuation properties that could be tailored to cover specific frequency bands Experiments were performed on the properties of rotating periodic beams , and were highly encouraging to proceed for further investigations On the other hand , piezoelectric patches bonded to the surface of a vibrating structure have shown great potential for vibration damping when shunted to a passive R - L circuit that dissipates the electric energy , or connected to a closed loop control system
