A prospective, observational study was conducted in a six months duration, in the new orthopedic department surgical ward, operative theatres and patients coming for follow up at the outpatient clinics in Kasr Alainy teaching hospital. Samples were collected from infected wounds using a sterile swab or withdrawn by syringe or surgical specimen during wound debridement. All samples were sent and tested in the central laboratories of Kasr Alainy by gram stain, aerobic culture and invitro sensitivity and resistant test according to local policy and standard guidelines. Is to implement and assess the efficacy of the new Kasr Alainy antibiotic prophylactic protocol applying it on the patients of Kasr Alainy new orthopedic department to combat infection
