Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Summary: This study was held to histologically evaluate the formed bone following alveolar ridge splitting with application of PRF versus onlay grafting in management of horizontal alveolar bone deficiency in anterior maxilla. Ten patients (seven males & three females) with partial edentulous anterior maxilla and an average age of 31.5 years (range 18-44) were treated in this study. All patients had a narrow anterior alveolar ridge with sufficient ridge height. All patients were scheduled for ridge augmentation procedures using two different techniques applied to two groups of patients. Radiographs were taken using CBCT for measuring the width of alveolar ridge. Careful clinical and radiographic examinations were performed to determine which surgical procedure will appropriate for each case. The first technique involved ridge splitting of the alveolar ridge in the anterior region of maxilla with application of PRF clot in between the splitted plates. The two plates were fixed with titanium mini-screws. This was applied to Group I consisted of 5 patients. The second technique involved application of buccal Autogenous onlay chin bone graft that was fixed in place with titanium mini-screws. It was applied to Group II consisted of 5 patients
