The functional lumen imaging probe (FLIP) is a novel technique which has the ability to provide real-time images of the function of human gastrointestinal sphincter during distention. The ano-rectal sphincter normally responds to the presence of stools filling the rectum and distending the anal canal. Therefore FLIP can simulate this distension and measure the resulting pressure and geometric changes in the anal sphincter directly in response to distension and measure its resistance to this distension. Evaluation of functional lumen imaging probe (FLIP) balloon evacuation test in normal individuals versus patients presenting with obstructed defecation duration of defecation using endo FLIP in normal individuals versus patients presenting with obstructed defecation. Measurement of the anal canal length (ACL), average anal canal diameter (ACD) . Endo-FLIP was used to measure length, diameter and duration of defecation through anal canal in twenty one patients of both genders in two situation control individual and cases presenting with obstructed defecation in colorectal unit at Kasr Alaini Hospital. In the control group: Mean (ACL) during defecation was 2.09 cm (±) 0.49. Mean (ACD) was9.38 mm (±) 2.53. Mean time of defecation time is 13.27 seconds (±) 3.22.In obstructed defecation group: Mean (ACL) was 2.25cm (±) 0.48, Mean (ACD) was 8.45mm (±) 0.45, P-value 0.001. Mean time of defecation was 25.2 seconds (±)7.02
