Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Civil Engineering Summary: The boundary element method and the monte Carlo simulation are coupled to study the effect of randomly changing the values of some important soil parameters.The studied raft is assumed to be a thick plate on elastic half space model and is analyzed by using Steinbrenner method. The EHS model is laying on one layer of loose sand soil. PLPAK is coupled with MATLAB by using a group of codes to produce easily the results of 5000 loops of runs. The results were analyzed using probability principles and typical statistical measures at critical internal points in X and Y directions for simple and practical rafts
