Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Analytical Chemistry
In this thesis, the main concern is the analysis of some pharmaceutical compounds containing amino group in their binary, ternary mixtures and in presence of their main degradation products or impurities. Three combinations of different pharmacological actions were studied. They are drotaverine, caffeine and paracetamol (antispasmodic combination), amlodipine, valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide (antihypertensive combination) and omeprazole, tinidazole and doxycycline (antiulcer combination). Stability indicating methods were developed for quantitative determination of paracetamol and hydrochlorothiazide in presence of their main degradation product and purchased impurities namely, para-aminophenol and salamide, respectively. The proposed methods were validated according to the ICH guidelines. The obtained results were statistically compared with those obtained from the reference HPLC method, showing no significant difference with respect to accuracy and precision
