Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Ophthalmology Summary: The aim of this study is to evaluate the available methods for IOL power calculation after LASIK surgery. Methodology:The study was conducted on 61 eyes that had undergone LASIK surgery previously. Two methods were used for IOL power calculation, the first was done by measurement of equivalent refractive power of the cornea by pentacam and feeding it into 3rd & 4th generation formulae (SRK-T, Hoffer-Q &Haigis), and the second was done by IOL Master calculating IOL power by post LASIK formulae (Haigis-L &Shammas-PL) and comparison was done between the two methods. Results: In myopia: A significant difference was found between formulae used with equivalent refractive power of the cornea and post LASIK formulae with automated keratometry, but there is no significant difference between SRK-T formula with equivalent refractive power and Shammas-PL formula. In hypermetropia: there is no significant difference between formulae used with equivalent refractive power of the cornea and post LASIK formulae with automated keratometry. Conclusion: Both methods may be used for IOL power calculation after LASIK but need to be studied more pre and postoperatively to evaluate the postoperative refraction
