Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Institute of Statistical Studies and Research - Department of Mathematical Statistics Summary: The problem of estimating stress{u2013}strength reliability appears in the context of mechanical reliability of system with strength x and stress Y. The quantity R = P(Y < X) measures the reliability of a component. In a stress strength model, the component fails if and only if, at any time, the applied stress is greater than its strength. A stress-strength model is formulated for S of K system consisting of identical components. This system is successful in its mission when at least S(1 {u2264} S {u2264} K) of these components survive a random stress. Estimation of reliability for both models was considered by several authors
