The effect of citric acid, ascorbic acid, tartaric acid and sodium benzoate on the corrosion inhibition of mild steel and tinplate steel in a mixture of Na2SO₄+H2SO₄ was studied. Changing both the concentration of suggested inhibitor and the electrolyte temperature was found to affect the performance of the corrosion inhibition process. Studies were performed by measuring the cathodic tafel lines using the potentiodynamic polarization technique. The obtained experimental data were found to follow langmuir, fruendlich and temkin isotherms. Estimation of the value of activation energy and some thermodynamic parameters in presence and absence of inhibitor were carried out. Some quantum mechanical calculations were carried out indicating the charge distribution on the inhibitor molecule and this threw some light on its mode of adsorption on the metal surface
