Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Computers and Information - Department of Computer Science Summary: The growth of communication technologies and the wide usage of the social media through the internet have greatly facilitated transfer of data. Because many digital multimedia transmissions on the internet, some important data needs to be protected during transmission. Therefore, hiding the transferred data is needed. One of the most important techniques of data hiding is a steganography. Steganography has been widely used in the recent historical times and the present day. It can be defined as the study of invisible communication that usually deals with the ways of hiding the existence of the communicated message. It is used to hide the message signal into a host signal without any perceptual distortion of the host signal. By using steganography, information can be hidden in different carriers such as video files, audio files, text files or images and then transmitted secretly to the receiver. The work in this thesis concerns about digital image steganography in spatial domain. Two new image steganography methods have been proposed. The first proposed method is a modified image steganography method based on LSB (Least Significant Bit) technique. The embedding in this method was done without making explicit modifications to the cover image. The work has been done with the RGB color image on two layers; Blue layer and Green layer. The message is represented by six binary bits using LSBraille method (Braille method of reading and writing for blind people) instead of using the ASCII encoding format
