MicroRNA-29a (miR-29a) is an antiviral, antifibrotic microRNA which was reported by biomformatics analysis to bind to the 3'UTR to an important prolipogenic transcription facor. Sterol regulatory element binding protein-lc (SREBP-lc) which is induced in response to HCV infection and promoted LD formance. One of its dowastream targets is caveolin-I (CAVI), an integral membrance protein associated with lipid droplets in certain conditions
