Several mechanisms have been suggested to play a role in the pathogenesis of AD such as, inceased concentration of aggergated proteins, mitochondrial dysfunction, reduced synthesis of neurotransmitters, inflammation and oxidative stress which might finally lead to neuronal cell death by apoptosis.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative dementing disorder characterized by slow but progressive impairment in momory, cognition and behavioral functions. Several mechanisms have been suggested to play a role in the pathogenesis of AD such as, inceased concentration of aggergated proteins, mitochondrial dysfunction, reduced synthesis of neurotransmitters, inflammation and oxidative stress which might finally lead to neuronal cell death by apoptosis.
