Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Organic Chemistry Summary: A survey covering the main general methods used for the fused pyrimidine and pyrimidine derivatives is presented. A brief outline of cancer and cancer drug resistance in addition to medicinal importance of some fused pyrimidine and pyrimidine based drugs is given. The different methods of preparing the starting compounds, intermediates and the final compounds are thoroughly investigated. Open field test was done to determine the effect of the prepared final compounds against cancer cells as screening for cytotoxic activity, kinase inhibition and cell cycle analysis thus it can be concluded that some of the test compounds showed anticancer effects and possible cytotoxic apoptotic activity activity
