Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Analytical Chemistry
This thesis is concerned with the analysis of the following drugs: Apixaban (anticoagulant), flecainide acetate (antiarrhythmic), aspirin and dipyridamole (in combination for treatment or prophylaxis from heart strokes). In this work, stability study was carried out on apixaban and flecainide acetate. Several stability-indicating methods were developed for the determination of the two cited drugs. These methods include spectrophotometric, chromatographic and potentiometric ones. Different analytical techniques were applied for the simultaneous quantitative determination of aspirin, dipyridamole and two of their impurities, namely salicylic acid and dipyridamole tartaric acid ester impurity. These methods include spectrophotometric and chromatographic ones. The aim of the present work was the development of analytical methods for the determination of apixaban and flecainide acetate in presence of their degradation products in addition to the simultaneous determination of aspirin and dipyridamole in their laboratory prepared mixtures and pharmaceutical dosage form, along with their related impurities salicylic acid and dipyridamole tartaric acid ester impurity
