Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Physical Therapy - Department of Physical Therapy For Surgery Summary: Purpose and background: Otitis media is a simple no serious condition without complication and the aim of this study was to enhance resolution of symptoms and prevent its regression. Purpose: to determine the effect of laser therapy on otitis media post Inhalation Injury. Method: 30 patients participated in the study they were recruited randomly from Kasr Elaini Hospital, Cairo, Egypt. They were assigned into two groups equal in number: group A received medical treatment (antibiotic+anti histaminic) and Laser therapy treatment 3 times/week for 4 weeks, exposure, time 8 min/four region, 4Joul/ point, power 20 watt and current 220 volt, 50-60 Hz. Group B received medical treatment only (Antibiotic + Anti histaminic) for 4 weeks. Assessment: by tympanometer for all symptoms (pain, tinnitus, otorrhoea and vertigo) and visual analogue scale for pain only before and after 4 weeks. Results: There was a statistical significant improvement in tympanometer after 4 weeks of treatment application about 43.97% when compared with pre treatment value. Conclusion: application of LLLT combined with medical treatment reduces the symptoms (pain, tinnitus, otorrhoea and vertigo) more than medical treatment only. Accordingly, acute otitis media due to inhalation injury are advised to have medical treatment plus LLLT treatment regularly together to have more improvement
