Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Neurosurgery
Tentorial meningiomas are relatively rare types of meningiomas. Total surgical resection is the goal in treatment. Advances in imaging and microsurgical techniques have improved the surgical outcome. This study included 14 patients with tentorial meningiomas that were surgically managed. Headache was the most common clinical manifestation (78.5%), followed by seizures (21%). Total surgical excision was obtained in 86% of cases. Complications occurred in 35.7 % of cases. Proper planning for surgery and the careful choice of the surgical approach are vital for the best results.
