The thesis presents analytical study that shows the effect of the global financial crisis on world economy and the activities of the insurance market of some countries. Great attention is given to the Egypt, the development in Egyptian life insurance market, a detailed comparison between life insurance saving products (with profits endowment and unit-linked) during the crisis period and after, The research conclusions shows that global financial crisis has negative effect on world economy also on life insurance business and recommends the need to focus on core business activities and the necessity to improve investment performance and risk management with the target to overcome problems caused by financial crisis
