Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of General Surgery
The laparoscopic approach for placement of a GT was first described in 1991 by several different authors. This technique provided a means of ensuring safe placement of the feeding tube under direct vision without the morbidity of a sizeable incision. In most contexts, it has become the procedure of choice for GT placement in children. A prospective outcome study was performed on 50 patient that in need for gastrostomy primary or supplemental enteral feeding e.g. post corrosive esophageal stricture and severe malnutrition was done at Cairo university specialized children hospital in the period between May 2015 to February 2017. All cases were carefully evaluated by history taking, clinical, laboratory, contrast UGI study and Upper GI endoscopy
