Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of General Surgery Summary: The female breast is regarded as a symbol of femininity, and it plays a decisive role in a woman's sense of physical and emotional vitality. Deviation from normal size, shape and symmetry are interpreted as unattractive. Far from posing merely a cosmetic problem, such deviations deeply disturb both patient's perception of her body and her emotional balance and they can markedly diminish patient self and esteem well being. Plastic surgery has addressed this problem and has produced a balanced surgical armamentarium for improving patient well being. Together with improving in surgical technique, the development of silicone implants has significantly contributed to this progress. The common goal of all procedures is to achieve an aesthetic alteration that the patient desires
