Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Mechanical Power Engineering Summary: The main objective of this thesis is to investigate the unsteady air flow distribution and velocity profile in a large scale high density data center system under various loading conditions by using computational analysis. Four cases were studied and analyzed under full-load (100%), partial load (80%), and half-load (50%). The air inlet temperature for the room was kept constant at 15{u00B0}C. The fourth case considered a varying inlet air temperature starting from the ambient temp. Commercial package of ANSYS FLUENT CFD is employed to simulate numerically the different operating cases. Results show the air temperature variation over time for different surfaces inside the data center and how long it took to reach the steady state condition for various loading conditions; it also shows air velocity through the volume of the room
