Skid resistance is a pavement condition factor that can determine when a pavement surface will require a maintenance action. It deteriorates with time due to several factors and its rate of deterioration differs with different road classifications and geometric parameters. A detailed study of skid resistance is conducted in Egypt using the british pendulum test to evaluate these differences in deterioration rates, provide safety skid resistance limitation values and road maintenance guidance, and predict traffic noise levels
