Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Parasitology Summary: The present study was carried out on a total of 82 cases presenting with symptoms that are suggestive of intestinal giardiasis. All stool samples were subjectedto: a) microscopical examination using direct wet smear, concentration technique b) conventional ELISA c) Nano ELISA using paramagnetic beads. Considering the MIFC technique as the gold standard test, the sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV,of conventional ELISA were 95%, 97.6%, 97.4% and 95.35% respectively. While that of Nano ELISA using paramagnetic beads were 97.5%, 95.2%, 95.12% and 97.56% respectively
