Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of General Surgery Summary: Breast cancer is the most prominent cause of cancer death in women worldwide. Locally advanced breast cancer is a heterogeneous group of tumors of varying clinical presentations. It represents the most advanced stage breast cancer that is still potentially curable with surgery, radiation, and systemic therapy. In this prospective study, twenty female patients with biopsy proven locally advanced breast cancer that showed good clinical response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy were included. An ultrasonography-guided Titanium clip was inserted in those whom complete clinical response was anticipated followed by pre-operative guidewire insertion. We performed easily easily reproducible breast conserving procedures achieving oncologically safe margins and favorable cosmetic outcomes. Intraoperative margin assessment was done by digital specimen mammography, cavity shave margins and frozen section
