Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Systems and Biomedical Engineering Summary: The mortality rate of premature infants has reached 3.1% in Egypt. The main reason for that is associated with infant incubator problems. In this study we calibrated 46 infant incubators, and evaluated the performance of these incubators according to the IEC 601 standard parameters. It was found that 25.4% of the incubators failed in the temperature oscillation test, which is the highest percentage among the parameters included in the calibration. I then replaced the incubator control system with the fuzzy logic control system. Comparing the results before and after applying fuzzy logic control, there was a 13% improvement in the performance of the infant incubators
