Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Endodontics Summary: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the changes of physical properties (flow ,solubility ,dimensional changes and setting time) and antimicrobial effect on Enterococcus faecalis and Staphylococcus aureus in the root canal system of AH plus sealer and Apexit plus sealer before and after addition of antibiotics like Amoxicillin or Clindamycin. Sixty samples of sealers (AH plus sealer and Apexit plus) with or without antibiotic addition (amoxicillin or clindamycin) were prepared divided into twelve subgroups each group have five samples to evaluate antimicrobial effect of sealer with and without antibiotic addition on Enterococcus faecalis and Staphylococcus aureus by using agar diffusing test). All plates were incubated for 72 h at 37{u00B0}C under aerobic condition, and zones of growth inhibition were measured at 1(24h) day and 3 days (72 h). It was found that AH plus amoxicillin modified subgroup had the highest antimicrobial effect against Enterococcus faecalis and Apexit plus non-modified subgroup had the lowest antimicrobial effect against Enterococcus faecalis. AH plus clindamycin Modified subgroup had the highest antimicrobial effect against Staphylococcus aureus and Apexit plus non-modified subgroup had the lowest antimicrobial effect against Staphylococcus aureus. One hundred and twenty samples of (AH plus sealer and Apexit plus) with or without antibiotic addition (amoxicillin or clindamycin) were prepared to evaluate physical properties divided into thirty groups each test (flow, solubility, dimensional changes and setting time)
