Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Economies and Political Sciencen - Department of Economics Summary: The study tackles the Egyptian stance towards foreign loans after the Egyptian revolution given the critical phase on the economic and political front .The study investigates the impact of previous loans on the Egyptian economy and evaluates their effectiveness as well as exploring two case studies that had different approaches towards foreign assistance. There has always been an ongoing debate on whether Egypt should accept more loans from IMF and World Bank or not? Some see it as a dreadful solution that Egypt must avoid and some see it as the only way out for Egypt. Given the quantitative analysis using the Johansen co- integration model, It was found that foreign assistance had no clear impact on Inflation, unemployment and real GDP growth rate in the long or the short run during the period from 1975 to 2015.The study concludes that foreign assistance may have a negative or a positive impact on post revolution Egypt depending on the policy environment
