Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Physical Therapy - Department of Physical Therapy for Surgery Summary: Purpose : The current study was conducted to investigate the therapeutic efficacy of exercises and Kinesio tape on range of motion of neck and jaw after partial glossectomy. Subjects and Methods: 45 patients (36 male and 9female) their ages ranged from 45 to 60 years had decreased function of jaw and neck post partial glossectomy and neck dissection for tongue cancer selected randomly from National Cancer Institute, Cairo University. Patients were randomly divided into three equal groups: Group (A) Patients received Kinesio tape and exercise program in addition to their routine medications three times a week for four weeks .Group (B) Patients received exercises program in addition to their routine of medications three times a week for four weeks. Group (C) patient receive kinesio tape in addition to their routine medications. Assessment was carried out pre treatment and post treatment for the range of motion of mouth opening and pain. The gained measures were analyzed by ANOVA test. Results: This study showed a significant increase in range of motion of mouth opening and a reduction in the level of pain after application of Kinesio taping in the group used kinesio tape and had exercises when compared with the group had exercises alone and exercise group showed a significant improvement more than kinesio tape group only. Conclusion: Usage of both Kinesio tape and exercises resulted in improvement of range of motion of neck and jaw and decrease pain more than usage of exercise alone or kinesiotaping alone
