Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Nursing - Department of Psychiatric Nursing Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Motivational Program on modification of impulsive behaviors of nursing students {u2013} Cairo University into controlled socially acceptable behavior as compared with the comparison group. A mixed design of both quantitative and qualitative methods was used in this study. It included a quasi experimental nonequivalent comparison groups (pre / post test) and semi structured interviewing sessions. Purposive sample of nursing students were recruited from the target population who scored highest on the "Impulsive Behavior Scale" (sever to moderate scores) and accepted to be in the study group of seventeen students. Three tools for data collection were used in the current study; Demographic and personal data sheet, Impulsive Behavior Scale and video recording of the interviewing sessions. Results showed that, more than ninety percent of the target population has moderate and severe impulsivity and about ten percent have mild impulsivity. A highly statistically significant difference was found between pre and post program regarding the "Impulsive Behavior Scale". A highly significant difference was also found between the study group and the comparison group post program. Qualitative results found seven major themes of impulsivity emerged and controlled. In conclusion, the study proved that "Motivation Program for Change of Impulsive Behavior" had significant effect on changing of the impulsive behavior of the study group as compared with the comparison group. This study recommended establishment of a center for modification of Nursing University students' impulsive behaviors using this program
