Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Orthopedic Surgery Summary: However the sacrifice of potential advantages of direct exposure was valuable as the expected wound and soft issue outcome is usually poor, the supercutanous fixation using calcaneal locking plate application after closed reduction with plantar stab incision offers the light weight external fixator and direct control of reduced fragments. The first clinical trial of external fixation of displaced calcaneal fracture using calcaneal locking plate applied supercutaneously after lateral minimal incision was reported in 2012 by Zhang et al., with 25 cases 21 cases were sander{u2019}s type II, 2 cases sander{u2019}s type III and 2 cases sander{u2019}s type IV. In the current study during the period of January 2014 to May 2015; we conducted a prospective clinical trial to assess the short term results of radiological outcome, functional outcome and complications outcome of supercutanous fixations of displaced calcaneal fractures of 30 patients after closed reduction with stab plantar stab incision
