Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Prosthodontics Summary: Introduction: A wide collection of ceramic materials available for CAD/CAM technology and is used in fabrication of laminate veneers, one of them is CERASMART which is a hybrid ceramic material. One of the problems that face laminate veneers is long term color stability. The aim of this invitro study was to evaluate shade changes of bonded CERASMART laminate veneers after exposure to commonly consumed beverages (carbonated orange juice and coffee) compared to artificial saliva (control group). Materials and methods: a total of 36 samples of extracted anterior teeth were prepared to receive CERASMART laminate veneers. Teeth were prepared with butt joint design to receive the laminate veneers restoration. Laminate veneers were bonded using total etch protocol and cemented using RelyX veneer cement. All samples were subjected to thermo-cycling to resemble the oral cavity conditions. Samples were divided according to the type of the immersion solutions into 3 groups:Group1: (control group) 12 samples were immersed in artificial saliva,Group2: 12 samples were immersed in coffee,Group3: 12 samples were immersed in carbonated orange juice. The samples were immersed in solutions in an incubator at 37oC for 24 days immersion periods. For the color assessment VITA Easyshade® Advance 4.0 device (spectrophotometer) was used. Using the equation x E= [(xL*) 2+ (xa*) 2+ (xb*) 2]{u00BD} Color measurements were recorded at two different intervals: before immersion of samples and after 24 days immersion of the samples
