In a developing country like Egypt, such phenomenon is even more evident. However, reviewing literature reveals that only few studies have tackled the subject especially in Egypt. And the findings are often inconsistent and overlooked the psychological impacts on survivors. This created the need to understand how downsizing can impact the survived employees. Accordingly, the purpose of this study was to understand the psychological impact on surviving employee that emerge post downsizing, to offer additional insight and information about the implications for the organizations that are considering the inclusion of downsizing as part of their overall organizational strategy. Questionnaires were then used to gather data from 384 survivors from 15 public companies of the Egyptian textile industry. Using SPSS, data analysis revealed that downsizing strategies have a significant psychological impact on survivors. The participants{u2019} responses could positively contribute to understand the survivor syndrome and by creating a support system for survivors and increasing awareness among decision makers and managers of the organizat
