Realizing the world - wide acknowledgement of the Irish theatre as a significant theatrical phenomenon , the Irish Dramatic Movement owes this honour to the founders of the Irish theatre : Lady Gregory , WBYeats and Edward MartinThis thesis aims at exploring Yeats' efforts in the establishment of the Irish theatreAlso , it is intended to shed light on Yeats' mainly as a dramatist with regard to his sense of nationalism and searching for an Irish identityThen , the study is intended to explore Yeats' cultural efforts in his search for an identity by using the medium of drama as away of revealing the main reasons that undermine the establishment of a national as well as cultural identityTaking into considerations the cultural and political circumstances in which Yeats lived , Yeats as an Anglo - Irish writer tried to identify himself as different from the Englishsince he regards them as colonizers and hence he invokes the Irish people to be proud of their culture
