Symptom burden was assessed using the Arabic version of the revised Edmonton Symptom Assessment System (ESAS-r). Performance status was assessed using the Palliative Performance Scale. Sample; include 100 patients with advanced cancer receiving palliative care. Setting; The study was conducted in an Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Department at Kasr El-Aini hospital {u2013}Egypt. Results: The most common symptom to be reported as severe was pain (93%) followed by tiredness (74%), poor wellbeing (67%), lack of appetite (62%), and anxiety (60%). The majority of patients (76%) had a PPS score {u2264}30. Conclusion: there was a statistical significant correlation between distressing symptoms and performance status among cancer patients receiving palliative care. Recommendations: Replication of the study on a larger probability sample selected from different geographical areas in Egypt is recommended to obtain more generalizable data
