Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc. ) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Pediatrics Summary: Over 80% of children with asthma experience nocturnal symptoms. This study investigated the effect of nocturnal asthma on school absenteeism and parents{u2019} work absenteeism. It was found that 82.67% of children had a form of school absenteeism due to their nocturnal asthma, and 57.33% of parents had a form of work absenteeism due to their child{u2019}s nocturnal asthma. School absenteeism was significantly higher in cases with inadequate asthma control compared to those with adequate control. Work absenteeism was significantly higher in parents of cases with school absenteeism compared to those without it
