Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Nursing - Department of Nursing Services Administration Summary: Nurse managers play an important role in hospital performance and their managerial skills can improve the quality of the services. Hospitals should develop a series of management training programs for these nurse managers as well as for the potential nurse managers to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in their positions (Türkmen,2016). This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of management training program on the nurse managers' performance. Quasi-experimental design utilized to conduct the training program for nurse managers. This study conducted at the New Emergency and Burn Hospital (185) at Elmanial teaching Hospital which is affiliated to Cairo University. The study sample included all available nurse managers (n=20). Four tools used for data collection:1st tool was self-need assessment questionnaire, 2nd was performance observational checklist, 3rd was knowledge assessment test and 4th was the program assessment tool. The study was conducted on five phases: preparatory, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation phase. The study results revealed that the performance level in immediate and follow up program was about (75.29%) which was higher than pre program performance level (46.54%). participants knowledge mean scores immediate post (37.25±3.19) and follow up program period (32.6±3.42) were higher than their pre program knowledge mean score (24.25±1.9).. Based on these finding the research null hypothesis that training program has insignificant effect on nurse managers and assistant nurse managers' knowledge and performance was rejected
