Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Analytical Chemistry Summary: This work is concerned with the quantitative determination of different drugs containing carbonyl group, namely, norfloxacin(NF), amoxicillin(AMX), flucloxacillin(FLX), and mitiglinide(MTG) in their pure form, laboratory prepared mixtures and their pharmaceutical dosage forms in the presence of co-formulated excipients. In this study, different analytical techniques were developed, which include spectrophotometric, chemmometric and chromatographic methods for estimation of the drugs under study. Several experimental conditions were developed for optimization of the adopted methods. In part I; General introduction and literature review of norfloxacin(NF) and tinidazole(TZ) were described. This part described also the quantitative determination of NF and TZ in their combination either in pure form or dosage form using spectrophotometry including (ratio difference (RD), derivative ratio spectra (DR), mean centering of ratio spectra (MCR), dual wave length (DWL) andBivariate (BIV), UV-Chemometry (PLS, PCR) methods. In part II; General introduction and literature review of AMX and FLX were described. Then different analytical methods were described for the determination of the studied drugs in their combination either in pure form or dosage form including spectrophotometry (ratio difference (RD), mean centering of ratio spectra (MCR) and area under the curve (AUC), TLC-Densitometry. In part III; General introduction and literature review of mitiglinide(MTG),Degredation study of MTG.Then different analytical methods were described for the determination of the MTG in the presence of its degradation product including(ratio difference (RD), derivative ratio spectra (DR) and mean centering of ratio spectra (MCR), TLC-Densitometry and HPLC methods
