Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Veterinary Medicine - Department of Microbiology Summary: Surveillance on Salmonella species in poultry farms (including organs from different poultry types and different breeds, water samples, egg samples and fluffs) during 2016 and 2017 was applied for determining the multicellular behavior, disinfectant resistanceand florfenicol resistant serovars of Salmonella, which is an important virulence factor and antibiotic resistance determinant. Twenty-six (17.3%) out of 150 samples collected from clinical, environmental and poultry origins in this study were positive for Salmonella.Serotyping of positive isolates revealed different 12 serovars which were subjected for PCR for detecting serovars responsible for multicellular and aggregation phenomena 2biofilm formation3 and checked for their florfenicol and disinfectant resistance. The PCR showed variable results for QAC and floR genes responsible for genetic resistance and genes responsible for multicellular behavior 2adrA, csgD and gcpA genes3
