Despite the continuous developments in cancer diagnosis and treatment, cancer mortality rate is still high. To minimize the mortality of metastatic cancer, novel and advanced strategies for early detection must be applied. Several studies show that early cancer detection may be achieved by combining multiple serum markers in cancer screening. The aim of the present study is to quantify the earliest possible detection time for ovarian cancer using two biomarkers, CA-125 tumor biomarker and IL-7 immune biomarker. This study also aims to present strategies to improve the detection capabilities through decreasing cancer detection time. To achieve these aims, a mathematical model that describes dynamic plasma tumor biomarker kinetics in relation to tumor formation, is coupled with a model for the early immune response that describes dynamic plasma immune biomarker kinetics in relation to tumor genesis. The numerical results show that, in the presence of immune response and using CA-125 tumor biomarker, the current clinical blood based assays can detect the tumor after its genesis by 10.4 years. On the other hand, using IL-7 immune biomarker, the numerical results show that the tumor can grow for 9.2 years before being detected by the current clinical blood based assays
