Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Analytical Chemistry
The scientific work in this thesis is concerned with the analysis of some drugs affecting CNS namely Asenapine maleate (AS) and Cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride (CB). The aim of the present work is the development of feasible, accurate, precise, sensitive and specific analytical methods for the determination of the mentioned drugs in presence of their degradation products and the adaptation of these methods to the quantitative determination of their pharmaceutical dosage forms. The quantification of the chosen drugs has been carried out by adopting a variety of analytical methods then the developed methods were validated according to ICH guidelines. The methods used for their determination were: spectrophotometric methods (second derivative, third derivative, ratio difference, derivative ratio, dual wavelength and isoabsorptive point), spectrofluorimetric, HPLC, TLC-separation with densitometric analysis, potentiometric methods (ion selective electrode using carbon paste and PVC membrane) and conductometric methods. The experimental conditions of each of the proposed methods were optimized and described in details
