The present work focuses on studying the stability characteristics of the partially premixed flames based on the effect of partially premixing level and the air co-flow velocity with the CFCN burner. The interaction between the flame stability and the flow field using PIV measurements based on the effect of the air co-flow velocity is also presented. In addition mixing field using rayleigh scattering measurements are done to study the effect of the mixing length, overall jet equivalence ratio and the turbulence level. Finally the flame structure using laser induced florescence are presented based on the effect of the overall jet equivalence ratio, jet Reynolds number and the air co-flow velocity. The main objective of this experimental study is to provide a good understanding of the stability and combustion characteristics of turbulent partially premixed flames. This study presents a new burner that has the ability to produce partially premixed flames with inhomogeneous compositions of the air and fuel. While the secondary objective is to obtain a high quality comprehensive database of partially premixed flames that can be used for developing numerical models for model validation that assists the development of stable and more efficient combustors with reduced emissions
