Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Neuropsychiatry Summary: Research shows the important role of oxytocin in social functioning and its relation to autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and conduct disorder (CD). The aim of dus study was to assess sativary oxytocin levels in 26 ASD, 26 CD, and 30 control children and to search for a relation between oxytocin and their social functioning. The following assessments were used. A development neuropsychiatry assessment (NEPSY ii) - after recognition (AR) and theory of mind (ToM) subcales. Social responsiveness scale (SRS), griffith empathy measure (GEM), childhood autism rating scale (CARS), child behavior checklist (CBCL), and stanford biner IQ scale. Results showed the prosence of low oxytocin levels in both ASD and CD, compared to the control group, No significance was found when comparing oxytocin in the ASD to the CD groups
