Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Prosthodontics Summary: Objects: The aim of study is to evaluate the efficacy of anterior repositioning splint (ARS) compared with stabilizing splint (Michigam-type occlusat splint) (SS) in patients with TMJ anterior disc displacement with reduction (ADDR). Patients and methods: Twenty patients with symptomatic TMJ anterior disc displacement with reduction (ADDR) were included in this study. They were 3 males and 17 females. Their ages ranged from 17-50 years, with an average of 30.10 years. After accepting to be enrolled in the present study, the participants were randomly assigned into one of two equal groups using a computer-generated randomization schedule. In ARS group. The participants received anterior repositioning splint (ARS). While in the other groups. The participants received stabilizing splint (SS). Results: Results of the present study showed clinical improvement in signs and symptoms of ADDR in both groups. A more statistically siginficant early decrease in the pain score in SS group was also detected when compared with ARS group, while A more statistically siginficant early improvement of the jaw movements in ARS group was detected
