Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Prosthodontics Summary: Aim of the study: In vivo study was conducted to assess the degree of bacterial colonization on maxillary single dentures fabricated from two different denture base materials one of them fabricated from rapid heat cured acrylic resin and the other fabricated from rapid heat cured acrylic resin modified with titanium dioxide nanoparticles. Materials and methods: Fourteen patients with completely edentulous maxilla were randomly selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, preliminary impressions were made using irreversible hydrocolloid, secondary impressions were made using green stick compound as a border molding material and Zinc oxide/eugenol as a final wash impression material then the master casts were duplicated using duplicating silicone, both dentures were processed in boiling water for 20 minutes, each patient received two dentures made of rapid heat cured acrylic denture base and modified rapid heat cured acrylic denture base with titanium dioxide nanoparticles then bacterial samples were taken from fitting surface of dentures and oral mucosa using sterile cotton swabs
