Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Operative Dentistry Summary: This study was conducted to evaluate the fracture resistance of maxillary premolars weakened by extensive MOD cavities restored with organically modified ceramic 2ormocer3 used in bulk of 4 mm versus multihybrid resin composite used in bulk too with the use of 2 bonding agents; specified ormocer bonding agent and methacrylate based bonding agent when placed in MOD cavities in premolars. A total of 78 sound non cavitated human premolar indicated for extraction were anonymously collected. All teeth were free from caries, cracks or restorations. Teeth were randomly allocated into six main groups (n=13) by the researcher. Group 1: Sound premolars. Group 2: Unrestored premolars with MOD cavity preparation. Group 3: Premolars with MOD cavity preparation restored in bulk with restored with ormocer (admira fusion x-tra®, Voco, Germany) in conjunction with ormocer based bonding agent (admira bond®, voco, Germany). Group 4: premolars with MOD cavity preparation restored with ormocer (admira fusion x-tra®, voco, Germany) in conjunction with methacrylate based bonding agent (Solobond M, voco, Germany). Group 5: Premolars with MOD cavity preparation restored multihybrid bulk fill resin composite (X-trafil®, voco, Germany) in conjunction with ormocer based bonding agent (Admira bond®, voco, Germany). Group 6: Premolars with MOD cavity preparation restored with multihybrid bulk fill resin composite (X-tra fill®, voco, Germany) in conjunction with methacrylate based bonding agent (solobond M®, voco (cuxhaven, Germany)
